How to submit a photo !

First of all with a digital cam or film camera, make sure you have the area of the viewer of the camera filled with the face of the pet if you want detail of expression.  Attatched is an example.   Also it is good to either use a telephoto to get the area full, or just get close to the pet.  It is much easier to use the telephoto.

Next it is best to get on the same level or below the level of the head to get a good shot so put animal on a couch or chair etc, or get on floor at the pets level.  Take lots of shots so you can get eyes opened etc...sometimes hard to do.  I am not concerned with red eye so if you have a camera that compensates for that ok if not ok..

It is easier if you let the dog relax and ignore it for awhile with camera in hand while watching tv or something, then focus and whistle or whisper and shoot. or just shoot.

The pet does not have to look at the camera unless you want that shot. It is your viewpoint, so whatever you want in your pet's expression. Some examples on the right but there are endless possibilities. You will notice that my drawings are different than the photos, they have a unique viewpoint of the photo, so if you want another viewpoint you won't embarrass or insult me by telling me so.

It is your satisfaction not mine, and if I like it and you don't that means I have a picture I like, nothing lost. I just may try again.

I tend to work on 16 x 22 size format, and usually charge $100.00 for one dog face composition. If you do not like the finished picture that much I also send a photo on the email of the finished picture, and you can print the photo off of it free on your printer. You are under no obligation for the finished drawing, I will use it myself for a gallery show, so nothing lost in the process.
